When students from the Computer Science Department begin thinking about their future, the excitement of entering the IT field often comes with uncertainty. The technology landscape keeps evolving, job roles keep changing, and new tools, especially Artificial Intelligence are constantly reshaping industry expectations. The question is no longer whether IT offers opportunities, but how well students are prepared to navigate them.
With this reality in mind, a Career Overview session was conducted for the Computer Science Department at Arunachala College of Arts and Science, focusing on job opportunities in the IT field and the strategic use of AI tools for better career outcomes. The interaction explored how the IT industry has expanded beyond traditional roles into emerging domains such as cloud computing, data analytics, cybersecurity, AI integration, and automation technologies.
Ajay Sreedhar, UNDP-Certified Soft Skill & Life Skill Trainer, led the session by connecting academic knowledge with real-world industry demands. He explained how AI tools are not replacing professionals but enhancing productivity, problem-solving efficiency, and innovation across sectors. Students were introduced to how AI supports coding assistance, data interpretation, workflow automation, and smarter decision-making in IT environments.
The discussion emphasized the importance of adaptability, continuous skill enhancement, and building a strong technical foundation combined with communication and analytical abilities. Students gained clarity on how leveraging AI tools strategically can strengthen portfolios, improve employability, and open pathways to competitive IT careers.
The session encouraged participants to look beyond degrees and focus on developing industry-relevant skills aligned with evolving digital transformation trends. Through initiatives like this, facilitated by Team Inspire by Srishti Innovative, students gain practical exposure that bridges academic learning with real-time IT industry expectations.
